The Midland Police Department has made an arrest in the case of a stolen Midland Fire Department truck.

Midland police arrested 29-year-old Estaban Pando at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a tip through Midland Crime Stoppers regarding his involvement in the theft of Midland Fire Department’s Station 6 squad truck early Tuesday morning. It is believed that Pando and another unknown suspect stole the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 from outside the station before abandoning it in east Midland. The truck sustained significant damage and had equipment taken from it.

Officers located Pando at his residence in the 4200 block of Cedar Springs Drive and recovered more than $60,000 in equipment stolen from the truck. Pando, who was previously shown wearing a camo hat and a fire safety vest in surveillance photos released by MPD, was arrested for first degree felony theft over $300,000.

Officers are still looking for a second suspect believed to have been involved in the incident, who was wearing a black baseball cap and black sleeveless shirt in surveillance photos released by MPD. Anyone with information on the second suspect is asked to call Midland Crime Stoppers at 432-694-TIPS.
