One man was transported to the hospital and declared deceased shortly after following an officer-involved shooting in Midland on Monday evening.
Officers responded at around 7:30 p.m. to the 500 block of Industrial Avenue in reference to a check person call of a man who was said to be causing a disturbance and was in possession of a firearm. During the confrontation with police, he was shot, transported to the hospital, and declared deceased shortly after. The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Both officers will be placed on administrative leave per normal protocol, pending an internal review. Texas Rangers with the Department of Public Safety are also conducting a third party investigation into the use of force per normal protocol.
Next of kin have not been notified.
