The City of Midland has collected this month’s sales tax revenue from the State Comptroller’s Office.
The total amount of revenue received was $3,287,547. This month’s figure reflects a 3.67 percent decrease, or a $125,303 decrease, from May 2016.
The year-to-date total sales tax revenue for fiscal year 2016-2017 is down 5.86 percent, or a $1,476,860 decrease, from last year’s totals at this time. Fiscal year-to-date actual sales tax revenue is $23,736,125.
Sales tax revenue is generated by sales tax income from two months prior to collection; May collection is based on March sales.
