Utility work is planned to begin Monday, February 12 for Cuthbert Avenue between Garfield Street and “A” Street. Additional work is slated for Illinois between Andrews Highway and “M” Street starting Wednesday.
Residents can expect partial lane closures, and at times, Cuthbert Avenue may be closed to non-residential traffic. Drivers are encouraged to use Golf Course Road, Louisiana, or Michigan to avoid delays. Work is expected to take two to three months and will include the replacement of water mains and storm drain installation. Following the utility work, the street will be repaved. The project is funded by the voter-approved 2017 Road Bond.
Work on Illinois will be limited to mill and inlay repair. This work is intended to repair pavement which was damaged in a 2016 water main break, and is expected to take roughly one week to complete. The repair work is funded through the Transportation Department’s annual operating budget (General Fund).
