The attempted kidnapping report made September 14, has been found to be false.
On September 14, a juvenile made a report of attempted kidnapping on September 13, near the 2600 block of Brunson Avenue. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the report was false and the incident as described did not occur. The juvenile has been charged with making a false report to a peace officer; a misdemeanor offense.
“We take every report seriously and investigate to the full power of the law,” said Interim Police Chief Seth Herman. “Unfortunately, false reports take away valuable time which would have otherwise been used investigating and preventing crime.”
While this report proved to be false, the Midland Police Department reminds citizens that if something seems off, trust your instincts and avoid the situation. If someone attempts to grab you, resist and run, and always report suspicious activity.
